  • very bad idel!

my 1.3 sohc 16valve b3 engine recently got a very bad idle.

the idel is not staying at 1k but tends to go up and down especialy when the car is warm.

many times the car stallls becouse the idle goes to low. and no matter how i try to get it back on the problme persist and it shuts down when i release the pedal from the gas.

i think that near the carb on the lleft side of it there is a like vacum white valve whit and aluminium cover some ppl told me that it can be the foult.

i alredy changed al eletrics and striped and cleaned the carb out but no use.\

any sugestion pls that will help me ??

I find an inexpensive vaccum guage handy for diagnosing problems.

One thing to check if the problem is worse when the car is warm is the Oxygen sensor.
But if the car passes a government emission test that's not likely the problem.

Another thing to look for are vaccum leaks. Try pushing the ends of all the hoses on tight and checking for cracks in the hoses. Leaking gaskets may be a problem but they are harder to check.

I like to remind people of the ignition control module which can cause problems when it is going bad. They can be tested for free at some auto parts outlets.

The above are all cheap things to examine before spending money replacing parts.
