  • Air Distributor Foam

I removed the dashboard and the central air distriubtor with the blower motor tonight out of the Silver Bullet. I also removed the flapper to the right of the AC evaporator. What I noticed is that all of the foam that was used to seal all of the doors and flaps in the air distributor is very brittle and it disintegrates to the touch. What would be the best stuff to use to seal these doors and flaps to replace the old foam?

My only fear there is that the foam on the used parts would be darn near as brittle. I thought about that idea, but I figured there had to be another alternative.

I would get some polyureathan/foamed rubber used to seal door frames.
It comes in rolls of various thickness and width.
It also has an adhesive backing on it!
Should be able to fabup a reasonable faxsimilie.
One more idea, borrowed from DJ, old mouse pads might be big enough cut new gaskets from,
but then you need to find an compatable adhesive.

Weatherstirpping available at Home depot or Lowes should work too. It is self sticking on one side.

The heat and humidity must be getting to me. I don't know why I didn't think of the foam weatherstripping tape. I kinda like the idea of the mousepads, too. I have plenty of industrial adhesives to choose from at work. Thanks for helping me guys, i appreciate that.
