  • To anyone with throttle sticking problems!!

my 1989 carbed tiva had a problem where whenever it felt like it, it whould hold the throttle at what position i had it at. so if i came off a 55 mph road it would stay at about half-throttle when i took it out of gear and would kinda drive like it was in cruise control. and when i tried to turn it off it would sputter and i had to drown it with gas.

quick fix that plaqued me for three months

save yourself some time, money, and sweat

check the pcv valve. FOR GODS SAKE!!
it'll do the 1/8 in 13.7, spin tires, and make all my drunk buddies giggle.

How does the PCV valve make the throttle stick?

i guess its all about the loss of vaccum and the carb's responce.
      because it definately worked.

Hmm ok thanks. Mine doesn't seem to "stick" but sometimes it seems to take too long for the RPM's to drop when I take it out of gear or something. Maybe this could be related.

well i believe mine was a more serious case because the pcv valve was sitting at a 45 degree angle.

I'll have to check that out. Dudley has a super high idle every now and then. I was suspecting one of the morass of vacuum switches on the firewall. I'll have a look at my PCV. It needs to be changed anyway. Could be original for all I know.
