You fainted for nothing, it appears likely we are both wrong!:p
Still possible a failed O2 sensor and/or vac leak could be contributing to said rich running but for 2 vehicles to have similar issues and both be due to the same multiple hardware failure is stretching things.
FB71's thoughts seem much more likely.
And with multiple instances of running rich we might actually get an answer back on this one!

I forgot to ask him about the ce light. I'll check on that tonight.
if you have a stuck injector, just listen to it.... steady clicking is good, no clicking is BAD. if you find an injector that isn't clicking, shut down, remove that spark plug and note it's coloration. clean it if nessisary and install. fire back up and firmly smack the offending injector with a solid object (i like to use a long 3/8" extention) then listen to it again. if it starts clicking, good... just remove all injectors and have them cleaned/ballanced. if there's no clicking, replace that injector and have the other 3 cleaned.

One last test: if you find a faulty injector, unplug it and test the harness plug with a noid light or DVOM to make sure the injector isn't being held open via short to ground (constant power to injector)

^^^ I've had very leaky injectors that still pass both the click test and 'noid light test. The only real way to tell is to remove the injector and run it in a testing fixture.

          FB,

Testing fixture? What does it do? Is there a way to make a testing fixture, backyard style?

I'm sure one can be made from backyard parts, but I have access to one originally provided by Ford back in the late 80's.

oh, it's escentially a plastic tank with an injector boss on the top, a fuel delivery pipe with an injector boss above that (to sandwich the injector between). An electric pump provides Stoddard fluid under pressure to the injector. A duty cycle circuit is used to drive the injector to verify spray pattern.

^^^ i was assuming he didn't have access to a test unit, but i'm with you on this one, they should all be tested/cleaned.

I just got done talking with my brother. He has 4 spare injectors he got somewhere and so we're going to swap them out to see if that fixes the problem.

                  Thanks for all the advice.
