in august im going to drive from Boston to Boulder and am trying to tune up a 92 festiva i got two months ago.

yesterday i checked the rear bearings and brakes, the timing belt, the fluids, as well as the air filter. What else should I check?

everything looks great except for the front end

    Problems

so my rotors are shot because they are all rusted on one side giving me the idea that my calipers are only tightening on one side of the rotor. i took the calipers off and greased the stuck slider pins, but they still seem really tight.

my cv joint boots are ripped but nothing clicks yet when i take hard turns and there’s still grease dripping from them. my tie rod boots are ripped as well as the little rubber on the tie rod end.

    Solutions

i should fix everything thats broken, but money and time are short and i want to know what i can get away with leaving for 6 months to a year.

i have new rotors, but should i get new calipers, how can i tell if mine are dead? While im down there should i replace my axels? once the cv boots fail how long do i have before i will run into serious problems? also if i neglect my tie rod boots and bushing will that also give me trouble?

one more question, can i buy a complete hub assembly with new calipers, rotor and bearings as an entire unit?

    thanks for any advice,

Well stopping is usually a good thing, so the breaks might be a good thing to do. Also check the ball joint control arm.

Protect the ripped boots by taping plastic bags over them?

I would remove tie rod ends, tape threads, slide new rack boots on, put on new tie rod ends. That solves a couple of your probs for cheap. If struts are good, and bushings are good, have the car aligned. Run til the cv joints start clicking, THEN replace them. Won't mess with the alignment, so run them 'til they are shot.
