  • *Not a Festiva* 1979 corolla wagon. HELP :/

well one of my girlfriends dad got this wagon a while back( a year) and just left it in the yard. I was bored so her mom said since i'm learning on cars that i could work on it and even have it if i wanted. Decided just to work on it to learn........

the airbox? is out and a few other parts..... the dad said just a plug isnt working (idk what that means). i got a few months to work on it so it should be fun.

overtime imma need some help with things.

it isnt leaking oil or radiator fluid and spark plugs seem in good condition, minimal oil on them.

    here are some pictures.

    front picture

    left front angel

    left side

    rear hatch

    rear right angel

INTERIOR IS VERY CLEAN AND NICE!

    back seats

    front seats

dash (bad angel, forgot the mileage)

    counsel

HERE ARE THE AIRBOXS AND WONDERING WHAT THE OTHER PART IS (2 OF EACH)

ENGINE- very rusty and missing the parts in previous picture

    area where parts are missing

    front right side

I will be taking this on a few times a week for a few hours(3-4). obvisouly a manual wll be bought and thankfully any part needed will be boght by her mom so im not spending $. Honestly want to fix it up for fun and just have them use it as they want. I only want experience.

in the picture you dont know what the two other items are other than the airbox... they look to me like Carbs. youll need it to get it started. since your learning you might be interested in rebuilding them.

Looks like either the 2tc or 3tc platform. 1.8 liter RWD, drift monster! Head on over to toyota3tc.com They will be able to help you with any questions you may have. I'd do a manual swap in that thing throw on some baby supras. Side draft carbs, header, maybe hot blow turbo set-up. Very nice wagon!!

in the back of the car is what looks to be two of the original type Hitachi or Aisan carburtors, with air cleaners (the big round things). The currently has a carb on it, just not the stock type. It has a Weber carb, looks like it might be a DGAV or DGAF. Popular carb swap for 70's and early 80's Japanese cars. Go buy a carburator kit for one of the stock carbs, get a shop manual, and try to rebuild the carb. You won't get it right the first time (probably not the second or third either), but you'll learn a heck of a lot.

              Keep the weber....DCOE 36/38 FTW!

Side drafts would be nice, along with a header and exhaust. Roll on baby supras 14" polished. I think you can do the trans swap from that car as well....t50 is the trans??

Looks like a fairly solid car, and a nice one to learn on. Good Luck!!!

DCOE is a side draft. You ever tune one of those things?! I think I'd rather eat broken glass than do that again...

                  His is a down draft.

I'm not saying the weber he has is a side draft, I'm saying I'd rather have a side draft....

As i said it would be nice to have them in the next sentence...I had the opportunity to buy a TE-72 two door sedan about 2 years ago...a passed it up like a fool. Yes I've worked on them but in no great detail.

And that space by the coil on the passenger side front is where the coolant overflow tank is supposed to be mounted. I can't think of anything else that is missing off the top of my head.

lol thanks for the support guys, funny..............

there is a lot that can be done with this car but wont be able build it the way you guys would like to see because of the $$$$

anyways 1st thing is to get a manual and study it.
                          then figure out the problem

i basicly just want to get it running good.

after that then update it little by little.

wont get at it till wednesday so i'll try to get updates bi weekly.

and is the there a carb already on it and 2 spares in the back???

yes, it has an aftermarket Weber on it now, with what looks like two stock units in the back.

It's just missing the aftermarket airfilter and the cap which is chrome...

                              much like these.

It gives you an idea what to look for. Maybe some performance shops around there have them in stock, but then again i do not know. You can find much cheap ones on the internet, I am sure of it.
