I am having some issues with the a/c in the festy so I was looking for a little help. I am having a lack of cold air at an idle. I have the factory manual and gauges etc, but what is throwing me off is the fact that I am using 414b freon. I don't know what my pressures should be with this. Does it run higher or lower than r-12? I know these cars use a TXV metering device so charging by superheat is difficult( if I even knew what the proper difference was). Also while driving the cold air goes in and out(like the TXV working) does that indicate a low charge or another problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

The system was designed to work with R-12. You will get unsatisfactory results with anything else. It costs alittle more, but use R-12. No more problems.'89L 110k mi. BP/G swapped

Because changing to 134 requires pulling the system down and flushing. R12 uses different oil. 414b is a replacement that will mix with both and their oils. That way I don't have to evacuate,flush and change the dryer. I can just add on top of my current r1293 festiva aka "the sexy"

Yes the fan works correctly. It acts like a charge problem(either to much or to little) or maybe air in the system. I guess I am just going to have to pull the whole system down and evacuate it to check for leaks then start from square one.93 festiva aka "the sexy"
