I replaced my front brake pads yesterday. As I recall, every time I have bought pads for any car, they always came with a small tube of that blue anti-squeal goop. The set I bought yesterday did not come with it, so I put it together without since I didn't have any, and I figured it probably didn't do that much anyway.
So I took it out for a test drive with my 7 year old daughter and they squealed like a pig. It was so bad it was actually embarrasing. My daughter's quote -- "Dad can you take me home? That noise is giving me a headache".
So we went to the auto parts store, bought a bottle of goop($5), and I tore them apart a redid the brakes using the goop. Now they are completely silent. I am now a believer in brake goop.
