  • Accelerator pump part #?

My nephew has an 88 festy with a bad accelerator pump. We've checked with several parts stores & nobody can seem to find one. They say if we can get the # off the carb they can match it up, but we can't find any such #. I can't imagine there being more than 1 carb used on Festivas, but anything's possible. If anyone knows of the part #, or has a good pump we'd sure appreciate the help. Thanks.

Just get a rebuild kit for the carb. it will have one in it, plus a bunch of other parts you probably need. 20 to 30 bucks. Compare gaskets closely though, mine had one hole that needed to be elongated to work properly.

      acc. pump

Is this making the car hard to start in the morning? I have one doing that, but after you get it started, it works pretty well. I put a new fuel pump on it.

We tried ordering the kit & they show a picture of all the parts, the accelerator pump isn't in there. The car won't start without a shot of ether & the diaphram is stretched. It doesn't move at all when we actuate the lever. Everything else inside the carb looks good & clean, but this thing had just been sitting for several years.

My rebuild kit came with one and worked great. One thing that doesn't seem to exist is a new float. If you are totally desperate I may still have my old one but it's used. PM me if you want it. I can't imagine a rebuild kit not having one. It's one of the main things that goes bad.

Who did you get the kit from?

I got one at Autozone (they ordered it), and another at O'rieleys (they had one in stock).

Thanks zoe. We got one from Autozone & the pump is in the kit, even though it didn't show it in the picture. Now for the fun part...

Rebuilding my carb and replacing the oxygen sensor made Little Buddy run 110% better. Glad I could help and good luck!
