  • Cylinder Head problems

We just replaced the head gasket and we took the head to a shop to resurface and pressure test. It came back fine and we put the head back on. we heard a knocking noise and found that they didn't tighten any of the bolts on the lifters. we tightened them. the knocking is gone but the motor is much loader then before and when it gets to about 4000rpm it accelerates really slow. Does anyone know what the torque on the bolts are? Why its so loud?

What engine, what year? If I remember correctly the earlier carbed engines had mechanical lifters which would mean they would need adjusting. Another thing to check is the timing belt... could be one tooth out.
