domelight w/ maplights question

i want to know how do i get the domelight from an escort to turn on without opening the door? everything else works but just that.

When I did mine, there was only two wires. One wire was hot when the doors opened. The other was hot all the time. I attached the third wire to a screw into the frame.

It sounds like either you don't have the ground connected to the frame or your always on wire isn't making a good contact.
