    what are some better carbs that would bolt up to my stock festy motor? The stockone is just way too picky and i am in need of a new one
    1989 Ford Ranger 177 2.9
    2001 hyundai accent 1.6 DOHC

    There is nothing better that will directly bolt on to the intake. You need to either find a carb adapter or do what I do. I take the intake to a fabrication shop and he fills in the carb mounting holes with aluminum weld and also builds up the edge where needed. He then drills and taps the intake to accept a Weber or the much cheaper and still works good 2-barrel carb from an '81 to '85 Ford Escort 1.6L. Here are some pictures of what it looks like when it is changed. The first 2 pictures are of an Australian Ford Laser intake, but it used the same Festiva type carb originally. You can see how the bolt pattern was changed to accept the new carb. The third picture (in the next post) shows the carb installed on the actual Festiva intake manifold. You need to use the throttle linkage "F" from the old Festiva carb and you also have to fabricate a bracket to hold the throttle cable on the valve cover.
