  • help needed

    i have a 89L, 4speed ,carb,and this thing keeps eating ignition modules.i checked for broken wires, loose grounds,everything seems good,its got new distributer twice, new modules,plugs and wires,coil,fuse links.everything new and can't keep a module in it.it will start and run great for a few times, then dead.please any help welcome.

    You probably should be bedding them in dielectric heat sink paste, same as they put under CPU's in computers.
    Look in www.ncf.ca/~ag384/Cars.htm for info on the ignition control module.
    I hope you knew they come with a 5-year 50,000 km free replacement warranty?

      i did use dielectric grease.there is a bigger problem here that i can't find,but thanks anyway.

        okay after much reading there are several post with the same problem,and everyone keeps saying check icm.but this is the 3rd icm and 2nd new distributor.i ,like a few others, DON'T have spark from the coil,but the coil is new and works.whatever is supplying power to the coil is working intermittant,the fuse links are good.but i can't find anything else wrong.if there is no power before the distributor would'nt that rule out the icm?

          Make sure you have the wires connected correctly to the small terminals on the coil. One post is marked "+" and the other one is "-".
