Yep, thats a Festiva head. Looks like its for a carbed car (Can see where the Fuel pump goes).

an E9 head should be EFI. E8 would be a carbed head. EFI heads still had the fuel pump boss, just had a blockoff plate. Look in #1 cylinder exhaust port, above the valve, for a passage that leads to the back of the head. Carb heads have this passage for EGR, and I don't think EFI heads have it, since they don't have EGR.

yes, but it's head's part# starts with an F3 or F4.

Epixstar, can you give me shot of #1 cylinder combustion chamber, looking straight down into the exhaust valve pocket/runner?

I got the same head off ebay. It was Exactly the same as my 1990 FI head. My old head had the fuel pump block off plate. There's only one stud that I had to screw out of the old head for the new one (exhaust manifold stud) everything else was good. I have about 350 miles on mine now and no oil in the water! Take your old head and new one to a machine shop and get them to pull the valves and grind them and you'll be good to go.

ok, this looks like the SP head (Service Part). Should work for either carb or efi.
