  • stripped spark plug holes

Engine would miss occasionally on my newly accquired '93 Festy, thought I'd check the plugs. They came out kinda funny, didn't come out easily, tight all the way out. Anyway, looked as well as I could down the hole, and a couple looked stripped.
Any easy fix without removing the head? Thanks Loads

Heli-coil, but better done by someone who has done this before!
Might want to put some PB blaster on plugs your not sure when they were last removed.
And definitely put a light coat of anti-seize on new plugs when you put them in!

also, removing the plugs while the engine is hot is less likely to give you this problem.

Helicoil with tap and insertion tool....around $20....25 years ago...probalbly cheaper today.

Some additional tools....spark plug tap...die...and chase.

I would buy some new plugs....which it sounds like you need anyway....put them in and see how if they tighten up. Use some anti-sieze on the threads. Be careful not to strip the threads that are left...the old threads make it much easier to start the helicoil tap.

            Those are nice!
I'm sure they maybe cheaper in price, but I'll bet you have a very good quality tool there!
