how do i test injectors

  • how do i test injectors

    im trying to get my friends 86 mr2 started, it sat for 7 years so i took the fuel rail off and want to make shure the injectors work good. is there a way to test them? also how much fuel press should the pump put out?

    check the resistance across the terminals, assuming their high-impedance should probobly be somewhere in the 12-14ohm range, if you have a manual it should specify or perhaps you can find the info online.

    take a 9v batt, run wires to each of the injector terminals... it should "click" as it opens. hold it open (keep the battery connected), and spray carb cleaner through it, make sure you getting a fairly decent spray out of them... as far as i know thats about as much as you can do at home.

      thanks. i did do the ohm test, but not the 9v batt test and they are back in the car so im not taking them out any more...
