Crossmember

I think my crossmember may be on its way out. I was checking my transmission mount play and there seems to be a bit of give in the crossmember. Is this normal or what.

It's freaking me out, cause now I'm getting these creaking noises (different from the clunk in my last post ) it happen when I press and let go of the gas and sometimes the brake. Front end just seems like one thing after another.

Might be loose or broken transmission mounts. My Celica does something similar, it clunks pretty bad when I'm coasting then hit the gas. You can see the gearshift lever move back and forth a small bit, it's so bad.

Check under the radiator where the crossmember mounts. This is a common rust area for these cars. It could be rotting out where the crossmember bolts up to.
