I'm knee deep in taking the festy apart to change out the head gasket, and then I come to the worst roadblock possible. I have a stripped bolt in the head.....it's the last bolt I need to get and it's stripped!!! Is there any way I can get this bolt out?

Stripped head bolt

stripped or rounded? Stripped usually describes a thread issue, while rounded usually describes a hex-head issue. If the corners of the head are rounded, Sears sells sockets that can be hammered onto the bolt head, and cuts into the flats to provide turning torque.Jim DeAngelis

My mistake, the head was rounded. I actually hammered on a smaller socket and was able to break it free! Thanks for the help though FB71. Also, once I got the bolt free and took off the head, I think I found where my overheating problem was coming from. The gasket appears to have worn out and has holes in it. I'll take some pics for you guys to check out to make sure I'm correct. This was the first time I attempted anything like this and it took me almost all day just to get the head off....I feel like I've accomplished something though! Now I gotta get it all put back together....ugh!"Lane, I've been going to this high school for seven and a half years. I'm no dummy."

Talking about head bolts. A back alley garage in my 'hood was doing a head gasket replacement on a 5 liter Ferrari Boxer motor. Why the owner would think they could handle it or why the nimrods thought they could do it is another topic.
Anyhow they couldn't get the head bolts out so they took a saws-all and cut 'em out. Can you believe it?! How they did it I don't know. Looks like they ground down the rough saw-all cuts in hope of using an extractor.
The "pimp shop" took it to another garage to see what they could do. Sensibly, this garage sent it back to them. I was able to snap the picture before it got moved out.
Made me want to cry.

wouldnt have helped; ferrari uses their own tooling and hardware (kinda stupid if you ask me, but it cuts down on non-approved persons doing repairs)Trees aren't kind to me...
