Thats a good reference. Any ideas on why the rotor looks the way it does?

I think i'm starting to lean towards this thing running like it is because of a carb issue....accelerator pump maybe?

^^Bacause ythe timing is off...the duration of spark is not evenly ditributed along the entire of the rotor.

That's what I was thinking...do these things have timing markers on them? Is that whats down by the crank pulley thats covered in crap? ha

Still wanted to figure this out before I have it all back together. Could the odd spots on the cap and rotor be from the coil not constantly producing enough spark? I'll prolly try it since its only like $26 for a new one.

Doubt the coil....a bad coil would be erratic all of the time...not just in the intial section of the rotor. You really need a timing light or to make friends with someone who has one or at least a friend that can use the one you buy.

Yea, I was just wondering if the coil could be causing some of the running problems too. After I get the front end back together, I'll get my buddy to check the timing when I take it to get an alignment. I may still try a new coil to see i it helps with drivability!

I just went through a jumping/bucking carbed car and it turned out to be a bad carb.
