  • Cel code 18...help!

So I finally got the new head gasket put in and everything put back together in the car today. It started up on the first try (much to my surprise), but when I gave it some gas it stalled out and the check engine light came on. I figured I just had the timing wrong, but after searching on here I think it might be something else. I pulled the cel code ( 18 ), and I found in another thread that it means "Air bleed valve control valve number 1. Check for loose wires, harness connectors that are damaged or defective ABCV". That just doesn't help me though. What exactly should I be looking for?

We can help better if we know the year/trans/Efi or Carbed?

the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) is for a carbed car, and would not cause a stall/lack of power issue. It's a resulting code from the stall, which is most likely due to improper ignition timing.

Yeah, I was thinking that was for a carbed car. It's a 1990, manual, EFI. So it probably is the timing?

Well, when I was about to give up on the car last night I adjusted the rotor and gave it one more try. Fired right up and didn't die when I gave it some gas. Hopefully she's good to go now. Festiva Madness here I come!!
