Buyer beware!! I bought my Festy knowing it had some work to be done. Expected about $200 to $300 worth of parts and now I'm at about $400. Before I bought the car I checked it out from top to bottom, inside and out. No major warning signs AT ALL. After one week at home I blew a head gasket and found the radiator full of oil. Had a friend of mine that's a very good mechanic do the work on the head which included new gaskets, grind valves, etc. etc. Did compression tests and left nothing to chance. Car ran a little rough but after I did a complete tune up (plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, fuel filter, timing belt, hoses, air filter, pcv valve and more) she runs so smooth it's unreal. Last night I noticed a pretty significant oil leak that appears to be coming from the valve cover which has a new gasket. Apparently it didn't set well. Then today I checked the coolant and guess what I found? Black gold!!! My radiator is again full of oil. It's as though everything was ready to break and I bought it at just the right time....for the previous owner. When I'm finished everything will be new but I'll be broke. Please tell me there is a positive end in sight.

Was the engine completely flushed after finding oil in the coolant the first time?

Check to make sure your headbolts where torqued down to the Haynes manual specs. I had to redo a headgasket on my yellow car after I bought it from my uncle, blew a couple weeks after I gave him the cash. Some times there are no signs this will happen. And everyonce in a while you get a lemon.

ahh cars break down, thats what they do. if u didn't flush the block it probably is from that, if it is the head gasket again u'll just have to put a new one on it. Really there is no reason to complain cause we have all been there and complaining only makes u more mad. just if u do have to pull the head again double check that its straight, not warped, before u put it back on and make sure u torque to specs
