  • Changing belts on a 92 Festiva.

Is Changing the belts on this car any tougher or trickier than on other cars? I know the timing belt seems to be the dominant item on that side of the engine so it looks like it could make it difficult to get to the other belts. Or even I might have to take that off too? I was going to possibly change the belts for my friend. I've had like 7 cars in the last ten years and probably changed belts on all. But never one of these.

Does your car have A/C? i don't know how hard the A/C belt would be to remove since my car doesn't have A/C but the alternator belt is easy to do, loosen the 12mm bolt at the top of the alt. and loosen the 14mm bolt at the bottom and move the alt. toward the engine and you should be able to remove the Alt. belt

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

my friends car but her's does have AC, but from how you explained your alt belt, it sounds like pretty much standard belt changing, except that the car kinda low. Maybe awkward to work on. Thanks.

Thanks. Yeah, I checked it out today and it looks like an easy change out. Her car seems to run ok. The belts did show "some" shinyness on the belts but not much, I'm sure they could use to be changed. Does the timing belt usually get changed at 100,000? She bought it from a mechanic guy that seemed to take pretty good care of the car and it was definitely over 100,000 when she bought it, I'm kind of assuming he probably changed it if it was due.
