  • Lifespan of original hoses?

I was looking over my new 89L today and it appears the cooling system has never been touched.

The radiator, thermostat and heater hoses seem to be original from 1989. They still look good - no bulging or deterioration that I can see. The tiny bypass hose is rotten though, but that's it.

How many miles have you got out of the original parts? This car was a spur of the moment purchase and I'm kind of strapped for cash right now. Will these hold up for 1 more winter or am I pushing my luck here?

    Regards,

    Tim

I still have all the original hoses on my '89 L which I bought new in April '89.
Take a look at the brake line, fuel line, and gas tank as they tend to rust out.

Original here as well (1991). Currently have about 150,000 miles on mine. No plans to change them anytime soon unless I spring a leak.
