Spitting water? out the exhaust

My '89 often has a puddle of water under the tailpipe when I start it up. I don't know about when driving. You might check to see if the drain hole in the muffler is clogged. That would cause water to accumulate in the muffler which could be blown out when you step on the gas. Also it would cause your muffler to rust faster. Mufflers rust from the inside.
