Gotcha....Do you think it helped ya with power at all? Did you look inside and see if its like a glass pack or is it like a muffler (secondary) that has buffles thus restrictive?

It is perforated inside , just like a glass pack.
I did not notice any difference in power .

I got a new exhaust for Twinstiva a few months back and had a Cherry Bomb installed in the same place as the old resonator to do the same job. Since Twin won't have as much insulation as Lux, either before or after she is converted to Speedstiva, I figure the resonator thingie is a good idea.

        So far so good.

The exhaust of a 4-stroke is best got rid of as soon as possible. Any obstruction is unhelpful. For pure efficiency the shorter the exhaust the better, as long a it ain't sucked back in.
2-strokes are a different matter, and back pressure may be helpful for fuel economy.

That's funny. Two strokes won't even run without backpressure. Not at all. Period.

As far as that goes, a Four stroke is hard pressed to run without any either. Take your exhaust manifold/header off your Four stroke and see if it will even start. IF it does, I'm sure it wasn't easy to start , and it won't run worth a squished bananna.

Yeah, I know, the fuel/air ratio is wrong . Well guess what ? If you jacked up the fuel/air ratio, you would have a reduction in fuel economy. The engine would still run like trash as compared to stock , and it would be louder than hell.

I'm so sick of this topic. If you do ANY research into it at all, you will find that EVERY engine runs better with a tuned exhaust. Key word is TUNED.

Yeah , open headers work fine for Top Fuellers. You know anyone that drives one for a daily driver ?

Resonators are really need on some cars. I had them put the largest one they could in my mx-3. Those K-series v6 motors really drone at 2500-3000 rpm. It has a slight drone now and it sounds so much nicer.

Makes you wonder how the old VW ran then...it had almost no exhaust system!

An octopus with a muffler ? I'd hardly call that no exhaust.

No cat, no resonator, but hardly NO exhaust. Just what was needed for daily use, nothing more.

I don't think a cat or resonator are needed, but one is for exhaust emissions, and one is for tuning of exhaust sound. I guess it could be construed as emissions of sound.
