  • Front end twitch

I've got at '90 Festiva I've had for 16 years. Its got 272,000 miles on it and yesterday I noticed it would tug the steering wheel to the left at low speeds, under 5 mph. I had been driving about 25 miles when it started doing it. I've had this happen before when it was cold but thought I had fixed the problem as it hadn't done it since early spring. At that time, the twitch would go away for days or weeks then come back. It was about 35 degrees yesterday. I've recently replaced the pads, control arms, inner and outer tie rod ends and had it aligned. Front wheel bearings, axles and rotors were replaced about 70,000 miles ago with struts and other bushings about 100,000 miles ago. I haven't bled the brakes in quite some time. I've been on the same set of tires which are a couple of years old when this has happened. In the past I switched them around, front to rear only to have it happen again. The only thing not replaced on the front are the calipers. The front end feels tight when driving other than this. Any ideas as to what would cause this??
    Thanks

if it's a twitch, check the pad wear on both wheels and compair. you may find that your left side is wearing faster. remove the calipers and lube the sliders and de-rustify the pad pins.

a sticking piston could also be a culprit, as well as a bad brake hose. test to see if the offending wheel releases as soon as you let off the brake, or if it drags afterward.
