  • Parking lights

Anyone ever have problems with there parking lights? Now and then mine don't work. And whenever I have time to take a look at it they never give trouble. When they don't work I can still hear the relay clicking when I hit the switch, so that part of the circuit is fine.

The front ones? Mine in my blue car were very corroded and the contacts on the plug and the bulb socket needed sanded.

All 4. They all quit at once, and come back all at once. Dash lights too, now that I think about it. They never flicker or anything. They will just not work when I turn on the car.

Maybe some corrosion on the fuse?

          Stefan,
Had same problem with mine when I got it!
Circuitry activates the relay then the parking lights through a fuse in the fuse block inside the car.
My issue was with the fuse holder inside the fuse block.
Just clipped it out and wired in an in line fuse holder with the appropriate sized fuse out side the fuse block.
          Haven't had a problem since!

Corrosion at the lamp is very common....but all four at one time....I'm not to sure.
A corroded fuse should also produce dim lights.
I wouldn't rule out the stalk or the connector to it. may be it's not snap in place any longer.

I don't know if this is relevant, but don't Canadian Festivas have daytime running lights?

Maybe something in that circuit is bad - it would explain why there are no parking lights.

              Regards,

When they aren't working, The switch still makes the relay 'click'
Also, my keyless entry flashes the parking lights, and that dosen't work ither.

DRLs turn on the headlights... not sure how that would affect the parking lights. At any rate, my car is a US car and dosen't have DRLs

Again, When the parking lights go, all my interior lights go too, so I would deafinatally rule out lamp corrosion.

If your interior lights don't work either, I would think its in the fuse box.
Or the hot feed to the relay.

                    Ill check some things tomorrow.

BTW when I said interior lights I was just talking about dash lights. Dome is still Ok

personaly, i would suspect the relay itself (corroded internal contacts) kind of like a starter that's going bad....
