    ^ that should have been done at the factory ! Loosening the three motor mount bolts works pretty good though.

      Lowering engine easy, + gives access to crank bolt

      Yeah, I've used lowering engine method, after putting plywood + jack on oil pan,
      + loosening 3 engine mount bolts ( after removing plastic wheel-well spash shield ). Sounds slightly hairy, but went smooth.
      Lower engine slowly - you'll get at bolt.
      Poor design though, I must say, having such difficulty to access crank sprocket.
      Above done on '96 Aspire.

        im also doing the same thing, though i do have a question what gear should i have if not what to make that pulley from turning when taking out that bolt? do i put a screw driver in the hole on top of the cam so it wont turn? also i know this will mess up the timming any links or help what position it should be line up? thanks inn advance. -note, i am taking out waterpump hence removing the timing belt.

          oh wait nevermind just reread thread again.....pulley off now, now time to get that waterpump out.
