  • 1988 Engine Swap

    I have a 88 Festiva that got hit and is done. I found a 92 that needs a engine. Can I swap the 88 engine into the 92? 88 is a 4 speed and 92 is a 5 speed.
Thanks for any advice you can give. Don

The '88 is carbed, you knew that!
    The '92 is EFI.
You will need to swap over the intake and exhaust manifolds from the '92 to the '88 engine and block off the fuel pump port on the '88.
Might be some other odds and end to swap over from the '92 to the '88.
    The alternator comes to mind.
Do either of them have AC?
But you should have all the parts to do the swap!
    Where are you located?
Might want to consider putting that info in your profile.
This way, near by members might be able to give you a hand.

The WA area is teeming with festivas. What's going on with that?

              Go in the snow!!

I picked up my 88 in April of 2007. In the winter of 07-08 we had record amounts of snow. My little Festiva went anywhere I pointed it, right past the the big old four bi's.

You will need to swap the distributors also.

And then sell the carbed distributor because they are wanted at times. ANd I think somebody in Ohio is looking for a good carb. Just passing along some financial gains to you.

I had one for sale if anyone needs one, for a carbed model.
