OK...so in #1 setting the blower doesnt do anything, in #2 its going fine and when I go to #3 position, it freaking starts to drain all my power! No matter if the engine is on or off my onboard digital voltmeter says that the voltage drops to like 8 in #3. I dont keep it there for long but I can see it drop big time! What could possibly be wrong? Do you think the blower switch is going out or the resistor took a dump?? Any ideas I would really appriciate....very confusing

OK...I unplugged the blower and it was the same thing...in #3 position voltage dropped below 8Volts. I did take the resistor out and it looked intact and perfect condition. I did some resistance measurements and I got from L to M = 2.6 ohms, from L to H2=3.5 ohms and from L to H1 =3.5 ohms........can anyone verify if that's what it supposed to be PLEASE??????Last edited by lasvegascop; 12-07-2008, 03:14 PM.Ski

Try this
Key off, disconnect the motor control switch and measure the resistance between the following wires on the connector. If your resistance is not ok then its the switch.

Its the resistor or the switch or the wires between them. Did you grab the J/Y resistor too ?sigpic

Man funny you say that...cause when I got home (25 miles later and after they closed) I realized I forgot to grab the resistor! Stupid, stupid, stupid! I think it might be res too...I mean, I didnt cut any wires whatsoever when I pulled it out for the BP swap and didnt change a thing. But do the res go bad that often? Do you know? Seems just spiral wires and nothing really to go bad on them, huh?Ski

Ive never had one go bad, Im just going by the service manual. If you go back to the J/Y grab the motor too. If all else fails resort to the process of elimination.sigpic

Yeah but the blower/motor runs great in #2...no noises no nothing..purrs like a kitten. Plus...when I unplugged the motor and turned the switch to 3, it still drained the power...so there's no way its no motor...now I know its no way its the switch either...
Do they tell ya the resistance between posts on the res? I visually inspected the res and its in perfect shape, no burned or overheated spots, all terminals are conducting, I even put some diaelectric grease ...still the same...a big hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I think I will unplug the rsistor...and see what kinda voltage I'm getting from the blower switch on blu[wht, blu/yel and blu/blk...I should get at least something with blu/yel which is the middle and hopefully its the #2 setting.
This is a simple circuit, you cant get easier than this to figure it out in seconds!! ahahahah

Is the resistance of the BL/R wire between the resistor and the blower motor less then 5 ohms ? Check at the connectors.sigpic

OK problem solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to thank you Freshtiva for basically making me double check the wiring. What happened is that there was a plug identical to the one for the blower right next to it and I used it instead of the right one. I was checking color codes and they were not matching...once I got it flipped the blower runs in all "gears" (sorta speak) now!!! hahahaha
I owe ya one sir......thank you again.....and big safety tip too...
******WHEN CONNECTING PLUGS TOGETHER MAKE SURE THE WIRE COLORS MATCH ON BOTH SIDES!****** (more likely they should 99.9% of a time)Ski
