5spd transmission electrical wires

yes switches are the same only difference is the connectors that plug in up between battery and distributor area, and i have the driver side switch only now and i have no back up lights The manual can be wrong!! ahaha

DOES ANYONE HAVE EITHER SWITCH I NEED ONE ASAP THANKS

post a [WTB] thread in the for sale section on this connector...

the automatic has ONE connector that screws to the transaxle and an output harness that has both the wiring for the park/neutral and backup lights....Won't work for the manual transaxle...
My connector under the cv shaft on the right side of the tranaxle is messed up... at the leads, one wire broke off...
i'll have to go to a JY and get one...
if i find another, i'll let you know skimsucka..

Ok, today I wired the back-up lights...The electrical connector is on the left side (drivers) front side of the transmission, directly below the battery.
slimsucka and Gforcefd say this switch is on the right side, below the right cv output shaft.. HMMM???? Whats up with this? My 5spd transmission is out of a 92 L. Any way the 4spd and 5spds are different? Or carb vs EFI?? My haynes manual also says the back up light switch is on the left... where mine is.

4 and 5 spd are different...(I think) the back up light switch is right where you got it...in the front of the tranny....the neutral is underneath close to the CV output.

4spd has "Shift" light cancel switch, to prevernt the shift light from illuminating once in 4th gear. Also has the reverse lamp switch neutral position switch. If you have stock orange speedo-only cluster in an 88-89, and swap to a 5spd, just remove the "Shift" lamp bulb from the cluster.

FB71: to confirm what you said, there are 2 switches on the 4spd: One is the reverse lamp and neutral switch combo, the other has the 4th gear shift light switch..
what is the location of each on the transmission? I'll include this in my write up...

The two holes pictured are where the switches are located on the 4 spd transaxle. The one nearest the bellhousing is for the shift light.

That particular one is out of an 89 L.
