    Questions from a newbie.....

    Bought a '91 Festiva L when gas blew up. I never thought I would say this, but I really like this little car . It has rust issues, but I got it patched up and I am hoping to get a few years out of it.

    I redid the rear brakes, but I am unable to find replacement E-brake lever seals. The local ford dealer just laughed at me, and Festiva motorsport has had them on back order since I bought the car. Does anyone know of a Kia/mazda part that would work? I found one good seal at a junk yard (yeah I'm that desperate) but I still need one more, and I would probably get a few spares.

    Another problem I have is with the gear shifter. The whole ass'y falls through the floor occasionally. I can't figure out what if anything is missing. The other three Festivas at the junk yard were the same way. Is this just a design flaw?

    I am also wondering if anyone knows of any patch panels for the doors/ quarters/rockers, or any good used parts for sale.

    Also, what cars had 13 inch wheels that will fit on a festiva? I need to get better tires, those Signets I have really suck in the snow/ice.

    My shifter on the 91 did the same thing. I just pulled it up into place. 13" wheels with a 4x41/2" bolt pattern fit. If you're into metric it's 4x114.3 mm. Mine are from a Dodge Colt.

          ^ but none of those links address his problem. His shifter droops thru the floor.

          There is a fix for it. Some sort of simple bracket that is made to hold it in place. Maybe someone has a pic of one they could post.

            Pull it back up in place,then drill one 1/8" hole on each side,put a 3/4" long sheet metal screw in each side,Fixed
            If you want to fill the hole where the rubber failed use Liquid Nails!

                Actually both the 1st and second one mention the problem and suggest fabbing a bracket to fix it as well as replacing the bushings. The 3rd doesnt really say anything about dropping, just sloppy shifter. So youre right. My bad.
