  • No-Start Mystery

Want to see if anyone else ever figured out this problem:
I drove several miles last night, no problems, ran good, parked it. Came into the house for a few minutes, went back out and everything (acc lights, dash lights, starter, horn, heater fan) was dead except the brightly shining headlights (no, I didn't leave them on - just checked them). I fiddled around with everything for a couple hours and it just wouldn't do anything. Then I went out this morning and it started up like nothing.

hmm... that is weird.. sounds like something electrical? why would only the headlights come on, and nothing else? thats the weird part.

Possible corrosion on the main fusible links.

I haven't confirmed it yet, but I think you guys may be right. I now know that the headlights are on one fusible, the injectors on another and everything else on a third. The circuit cuts out right at about 33 degrees F and below (due to thermal contraction I guess). That's why it starts up all day and not at night. Every day and night are the same.

sure enough, after fiddling with the main fusible link connections, it never had another problem - even all through the recent cold snap.
