  • Rear strut bolt

Where is a place to find the rear, lower strut bolt?

As common as they are to break, there must be a source for the right one. I spent all afternoon today looking. Toyota, Ford, Honda, O'Reilley, Home Depot and finally Lowe's.

Looks like the stock lower bolt is some kind of hard alloy. All I could find was the typical hardware variety at Lowe's. I don't think I want to use them.

    ??????????

      I've never heard of Westlakes.

I forgot to mention, I went to Ace Hardware and Auto Zone too. I didn't make it to NAPA.

I just did a search on "Westlake". There are no stores close by but I see they are an Ace Hardware affiliate.

          What did I miss?

I would make sure it is a grade 8 bolt.

The Westlake(s) around here have a wider selection of hardware. Lowes and Home Depot store are warehouse stores. They sell commonly sold items. Westlake here have more specialty and hard to find hardware. Least thats been my experience. Ive also found that the Mcauto parts store dont try to hard to find you a $1 item where as the smaller privately owned autoparts stores sometimes provide some service and will acutally try to find you a $1 part.

I can't remember but am 95% sure that your caliper bolts are the same as your lower rear strut bolt. when I did my swap to aspire I had the same problem.

If that is the case I did get one from Westlake before 25horseplay sent me some originals. I might still have the bolt I bought for the longer caliper bolt. Ill send it to you if you find its the one you need Mckown.

they are not. i had to go to fastenal and get the bolts i needed, wound up with medtric grade 12.4 (or something). it's higher than SAE grade 8. anyway, the same bolts that hold in the lower control arm to the chassis are what you need for your lower strut bolts, this i'm 100% positive on.

I went to NAPA this morning. They had the bolts, 10-1.25-75 but they were the wrong grade. All they had was 8.8 grade bolts. The strut bolts are 10.5(?) grade. There's a Fastenall store close by. I started to go there first and didn't.

Do you by any chance still have your invoice on the bolts? My Fastenall store doesn't have these bolts in their catalogue or at least they can't seem to find them.

All their 10.8 grade bolts in that diameter were socket head bolts.

Maybe the guy can't read the book. I don't know.
