  • slow return to idle?

just like the title says my f.i. Festiva will idle at about 1400 rpm for 10 sec. before dropping down to normal idle.doesn't matter if it's cold or warm it idles high for a bit before dropping down when shifting or stopping.

I did search and couldn't find anything but I'm sure I've seen it before.

Carb or fuel injected? Either way, I've had this happen on both types. My normal fix is to clean the throttle body or inside of the carb REAL good. Throttle bodies will get a lot of build up and make the butterfly sticky. I actually just did this yesterday on my explorer and its much better now, ha.

Someone wrote that he adjusted the fast dile screw to stop his engine from doing that. I find using the block heater prevents it.
