Quick Speedometer gear question

On my 89 L the speedo isn't working right now, the cable and speedo are both fine so it must be the gears, since Old Red isn't going anywhere right now I was wondering if the speedo gears from a 5-speed would be interchangeable with the ones on the automatic ?

I would just take the whole 5spd from old red, put it into snowball, and change the gears too, and put in a tach!

Nah, maybe later on but I doubt it, it runs great so I'm leaving it how it is, just want to get the speedo working again asap because we're getting it inspected soon thats why I want to know if they're interchangeable because it's still going to be a while before Old Red is back on the road...
