VAF = Vane Air Flow. Flapper door type air flow meter
MAF = Mass Air Flow. Hot and cold resistor wire (Wheatstone bridge volotage divider) flow meter
MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure. Small sensor (variable capacitor tied to a frequency generator or analog voltage generator) used to determine manifold vacuum relative to air pressure. Only used on Speed/Density type EFI systems (no air flow sensor)

OBDI started in 1986 to 1995
OBDII started in 1996 to current

So can anyone scan the appropriate section out of a manual so carlosandpeppes can test his TPS?
I don't have access to a scanner myself yet but will like have one next week.

Allright guys, it turns out it was a faulty vaf or whatever you call the doohickey on the airbox.I started swapping parts from my other festiva and it started running after i swapped the aribox top with the vaf. Thanks a lot guys!!!!

I appreciate you letting us know what the problem was.
Many times we never hear back after the problem is fixed!
Can you look over the VAF and determine what the problem was with it?
Do you need another VAF for your other festiva?

I didnt really check the faulty vaf, could it be the flapper was closed shut, causing the engine to gasp for air?Is the flap supposed to move freely or have a lil bit of friction?
I sure wouldnt mind getting another one to get my other one running again. I also need a spare distributor. Besides festivas and aspire models, can i use a distributor from a b6?
