  • Question about my new radiator

My new radiator came in! The only thing is, on the bottom, there's 2 brass (or metal most likely) tubes. I'm guessing these are for an auto trans? My car is a 5 speed. It didn't come with any caps to cap it off or anything. Can I get something like that at a parts store? Thanks!

You should be able to get brass caps at any Lowe's or Home Depot to cap those off if they are not needed. I believe they are for the auto tranny.

Are they gonna be hard to find? And since its dual core, should I have any fitment problems?

I put a new dual-core (automatic) radiator in the 'Egg a few months ago; didn't even bother capping those lines. Maybe I should have but I do not see why. The only fit problem, if you can call it that, is that it is wider that my old very thin radiator, and so it was a tight fit getting it in the engine compartment.

Interesting side note: I initially hooked up the two fan leads backwards so the fan didn't run; even with the high heat in SoCal and no fan to help with cooling, it was just fine, and temp was normal. I love those dual-core radiators.
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

            no fitment issues

you don't need to cap off those ports at the bottom. Nothing will leak out of them. They are the inlet and outlet to a separate tank/cooler inside the lower radiator tank. In an auto trans car, auto trans fluid would be circulated thru them to expell heat from the trans fluid into the coolant.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to cap the ATX ports just to prevent anything getting in their and prevent it from un-necessarily rusting out....what do caps cost...a couple $ each...whats a rad cost...+$100.

I ran a piece of fuel line to both on mine. They are just hooked together now.
