  • Intermittant no-start, no-interior power.

My wife took the car on a trip. Shortly after leaving home, the car lost it's alternator belt.. Being my wife, she kept on driving, glad that the squealing of the belt had stopped. (I've been telling her to get the belt tightened for months.)

Almost home, the car stopped. I went out and retrieved the battery, charged it, and put it back in to drive to the shop. It wouldn't start... Worse, the only electrical device that would work in the car was the headlights. I ended up having it towed for $60..

Once it got to the mechanic, it started right up. I told the mechanic to take his time getting around to fixing it because we borrowed a car for my wife to drive. I also told him to check for a loose contact. It took the mechanic four days to replace the belt, $30! He couldn't find any loose contact.

One day later and the car wouldn't start, no interior lights, radio, etc, only the Headlights worked. An hour later, it fired right up, everything worked. Next time it might start, might not..

The fusible links look fine, but I unplugged them and replugged them just to be sure the contact was good the first time it occurred. The fuses are good. The battery is tight. The ECM was recently replaced. It's got to be a loose connection somewhere, but where? Any help?

I think I got it. I'll clean and replace the main fusible link tomorrow.
