Everything I've read tells me FI Festivas are rated for 63 HP. I believe the carbed ones were rated for 58. Check your sources.

U.S. spec Festivas carbed: 58 hp.

      "................................" FI: 63 hp.

Overseas Festivas may have had different specs.

Some of those figures Lilred posted look like for Capri roadster figures.

Some just look odd. If one 1.3 gets 58 hp at 5000 rpm, I would find it hard to believe that another 1.3 could get a whopping 73 hp at only 3000 rpm!

'93GL "Prettystiva" ticking B3 and 5 speed, backup DD; full swaps in spring!
      '91L "AquaMutt" my '91L; B6 swap/5 speed & Aspire brakes, DD/work car
'92L "Twinstiva" 5sp, salvage titled, waiting for repairs...
      '93GL "Luxstiva," '94 B6 engine & ATX; needs overhauled
'89L "Muttstiva," now a storage bin, future trailer project

That's not HP Karl, that torque (foot-pounds). If his figures are accurate, at least the rpm, that's the reason we seem to get suprisingly good acceleration out of our little 58/63 HP econo-boxes without redlining every gear.

This is what a professional automotive shop repair program said. There usually more accurate. Ill look in to it a little further.

            HappyMom scolded:

"That's not hp Karl, that's torque."

Ah, so! I stand (sit) corrected.

            Sorry about that 'Red.

Yea, our Mom's on the ball!

so how do you make the B6 stronger? , would a header help a great deal?
K&N? , Port the head and manifolds? , Yep, it goes good and now I want more!! how typical
Aspires and Sways all around, Miata B6 installed, KYB G2Rs just installed in front. Wish for coil overs someday.

                Headers from FMS.

60mm TB from '91 to '96 Escort GT.

                CAI.

                Low restriction cat and muffler.

I'm using 2" pipe on mine. Go too large and you reduce backpressure perhaps more than you want. (Adds a bit of weight, too.)

Ground wire setup for better electrical efficiency.

For my first swap (working on it now), I'm using a (can't recall the company--I don't think it's Borla--some other "name" brand) downpipe from A-Zone, a low restriction cat & turbo muffler from Magnaflow, and 2" exhaust pipe, probably with mandrel bends. I may go with the larger TB and add the ground wire setup in the spring after I see how all this is doing. It's a '93GL automatic with A/C so I'm not looking for "ultimate performance," just competency (about 85 to 90 hp).

Other than that stuff, I just "freshened" my B6 with new seals.

Since my engine is rated at 82 hp stock, I expect my initial setup will yield around 84 to 86 hp with the slightly freer exhaust.

I have most of the parts for the Aspire suspension swap (this spring), too, and a set of Aspire factory alloys (13 X 4.5"). I'll probably mount 165/70-13s. This'll give me a good combo of handling and fuel economy for longer trips.

If I ever go to wider wheels and tires, probably 13 X 5.5" wheels with 185/60s.

Eventually, I may look for a later Aspire 3 speed lockup torque converter transaxle to put in.
