Anyone know how much current is suppose to go through the main fusible link? Or does anyone know what would cause the main fusible link to get hot to the point of melting the wiring sheath? Also, where can i get better electrical diagrams for a 1990 festy besides whats in the Haynes manual?

Go to a large public library to the automotive books sections and look at the WIRING DIAGRAM BOOKS MITCHELL MANUALS!! Make a copy of page and go home to play with that Festiva. Those wires you say are fuse links are COLOR CODED to give you the rating!!!! Buy the same color you are replacing. The EVTM (Electrical-Vauum troubleshooting manual) had all the wiring diagrams. Pick one up for your year on ebay
