  • Front main seal

I replaced this sucker on my '90 Festiva a couple years ago but it's leaking like crazy again. The crank journal was a little rough the last time - I tried to clean it up with some emery cloth. It seems to me I read somewhere about a polished steel sleeve that goes on over the crank to give a nice new surface for the seal. Did I imagine that, or is such a thing really available? If so, where?

It's called a SPEEDY SLEEVE. Any NAPA store will have one for you. They have them for the cam also except for the '93. Don't know why, just not listed for '93.

93 has a different size crank snout.

They also go by the brand name Redi-Sleeve.

MAke sure you follow all of the directions for the sleeve...if it goes on little lop-sided...it will never work.
