  • Think the radiator popped.

Was driving home when I noticed shortly after I started my drive that I had no heat and the temp gauge was getting really high. Pulled over and theres no coolant in the radiator. Looks like all my hoses are good. I couldnt see exactly where the coolant was coming out at but it looks like its behind the radiator fan, somewhere around the middle of the radiator. I *hope* its just the rad.

Got my dad out to tow it home, parked it in the garage, and came inside. Freezing to death, and I gotta be up for work in 6 hours. Ive got 24 hours of work over the next two days so I dont think the car is gonna be touched til the weekend.

Anyone else had something like this happen?

Top the rad with some water....let it idle until the going fan cycles on then off...then start looking for steam around the suspect area....this will validate your suspicion.

If the fan does not want to kick in...take a short drive...keep an eye on the temp gage.

Best to search for steam with the lights out and use a flash light.

A rad change is 20-30 minutes if the rad is empty....but some fool just told you to put water in it....go figure.
