  • Speedo cable noisy

    both of my festys have the same noise.It is the speedo cable behind the cluster.Never did it in the summer,just in the cold months.Any suggestions ?

    Lube the cable with either graphite or 3in1 oil. Mine did the same thing in the winter months.

      Un-do it at the tranny end, and then you can pull the metal cable out of the rubber sleeve. Then lube er up.

        you know, i lubed my cable up well, and it still does it on the cold mornings 10 F....

            im amazed that mine didnt with the -20* days we had here this past couple months in MN.

            one of my older ones however would do it anytime below 50* lol. lube her up though and it should quiet up. if that doesnt work it may have popped out a little from the back of the cluster and just needs to get pushed back in.

              i had the same problem with my 91 $16.89 later for a new cable and its quiet.

                can you even buy a new speedo cable from Ford? I didn't think so.. but i may be wrong.
