Yes,they all have problems, but, without buying new ones, can these be taken apart and made to work good ?? My 90 you can crank down a bit ,but,to put it back up you have to bring it mostly all the way down and back up.Doesn't always work.
I was also thinking of buying new tracks for all of my Festys, but, what would it cost to just put aftermarket pwr windows in ???How much more than the 80-90 it would cost for both new tracks.

Pretty sure the 323 2 door tracks will work. I have one and I matched it up to a Festiva track. Everything was where it needed to be.

I would try to put some spray on teflon or grease in the track...that usually helps in my cars. I was in a hurry so I took out my old rubber seal and poured some transfluid(but teflon or some other grease would work better) through the groove and put it back in. It worked great. Not even hard to crank it. you can actually take everything out of the door frame, clean it, and put it all back in, in about 30 min. I would suggest doing something like that first, before going out and spending a-lot-o-cash.

Silicone between seal and glass on the sides will reduce friction, if that is your problem. On mine, the regulator was freezing up about 3/4 of the way up. I had to crank it so hard i nearly broke the handle. I ended up just finding one in good working order at a junkyard, but the new prices seem reasonable.

i have to guide my passenger window up with my non-cranking hand... i need to push it to the rear and up for it to go up properly.. i've just dealt with it...

how hard are the tracks to replace for anyone who has done it?

easy peasy. There something like three bolts (literally) holding it in there after you take the door panel off. Take your time undoing the clips so you dont bust them. Theres a u shaped clip that need undone to take off the crank handle.

yay for my first post being helpful!

Yep I have the exact same problem. Haven't had a chance to really look at it and haven't been to concerned since it is still winter but I'd like to fix it before it starts getting warm

                      Any Ideas anyone?

You can't disconnect the cables. They go to the center rail/lifting mechanism. That center rail is held to the door sheetmetal by 3 bolts: two on the upper end, and one in the bottom. But you have to remove the window first which is bolted to the lifting mechanism. First remove the window crank handle and armrest, then take off the door panel. Crank down the window until the two screws holding it to the lifting mechanism become accessible via the service hole. Remove the two screws and also the plastic tabs that the screws went into, which are just snapped onto the window, then just pull the window out of the door. Remove the aforementionned 3 bolts (2 up, one down) holding the lifting mechanism, plus the 3 other bolts holding the cranking mechanism to the door, then take them out of the door through the service hole. Pretty much a cynch once you know how.

So we will need a whole new window regulator then?

Well, it depends...On my car, I usually wait 'till the window won't go up anymore to replace the mechanism. But from personal experience, the window tracks are usually the culprit; the mechanism is collateral damage, because there's too much friction from the rubber tracks, which leads to more stress on the mechanism. And it doesn't help that the mechanism is a poor design; I've taken one appart, and it's basically a drum with a cable wrapped around it a couple of times, kinda like a winch drum. I'm on my third mechanism on my driver's door; the first one failed because the cable became entangled inside the crank mechanism, which led to wear until it snapped, and on the second one, the metal shaft on which the crank snaps on to shattered a month ago. But in both cases, it was because I neglected to lube up the tracks. So like the others said, start by doing that and see if it works. It's never a bad thing to do it even if your windows work properly.
