  • Could a bad VCG cause so much oil leakage

My engine is covered in oil below the valve cover and the distributor is covered too. I just bought a VCG kit and distributor O ring from Advanced Auto to install tomorrow. I was curious if these two things could cause so much oil leakage?

What can happen is that as the oil leaks from the VCG the fan blows the oil all over the engine. I have had the same problem for some time. If the oil is mostly on the disty side then definitely yes this can happen. If on the opposite side of the engine it is probably the cam and/or crank shaft seals.

Be sure to use some sealant between the valve cover and the gasket.
