  • Carb Kit

I was looking at the carb kits at Advance. Which one do I need? One says type A-2. I have an 88 LX.

The last time I checked Advance, they only had one. If they have two, it is likely it is two different manufacturers. If this is the case, it shouldn't matter which one you get, depending on what you want to spend.

There really should be only one type of kit for the Festiva, as there was only one type of carb, to my knowledge. It could be the pic is wrong.

i think the 89 carb was a little different from the 88 carb. dont know which is which though. let the ford god (aka fb71 i think) help. maybe we could pray to him a little? oh great ford god, bestow your knowledge upon us!

I looked at the kit I got and it says: A-2 asian(festiva 88'-89'), so I think it will work.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably order it today. I've learned before that the pictures that are used for a product aren't always what they're supposed to be.

I rebuilt an 89 Festy carb with an Advanced kit and man it ran so much better. It was pretty easy too. If I remember correctly, it came apart into two pieces, the throttle plate and air horn assemblies. I soaked the lower part over night in some carb cleaner that came in a gallon can, I think it was Berryman's or something. Make sure you take lots of pics and label every vacuum line and connector and take your time.
