this happned on my green car, i took a piece of a tin can, cut a hole in the centre slipped it over the bad area and re-bolted it, works great now!!

      1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
      1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

        Uh, how so?
The wiper mechanism is below the cowling in an enclosed section.
The fender does not open any channels into the enclosure.
Even with the wiper mechanism removed from the fire wall you can't get to the driver side wiper with any ease.
The only way I've seen this fixed is to have the wiper assembly out and a new piece welded in through where the wiper shaft passes through the cowling. Close quarters requiring a skilled welder with patience.
Of course you could open up the cowling which would necessitate the welding of the cowling when your done.

Tell you what. I'm a believer of JB Weld. I welded a carburator once and it held for several years. It was where line goes into carburator, it broke off. I JB welded it and put filter back in and worked great. It gets hard as steel to where you can sand it to whatever way you need plus is resistant to almost all chemicals. I would get a washer or piece of steel, shape it, and put weld on it. Betcha it would hold. Just make sure you get all paint off of surfaces and clean real good.

            Repairs almost complete.

Did a little welding and cut the body to gain access

Cut open to make more room for more welding and the plate

Mounted the plate and dilled some additional holes for mounting.

Bolted in place with a couple ounces of epoxy putty...spend a day under a 200W lamp to dry.

Ready for test....spent 1/2 hour under a lawn sprinkler.

Preped for welding...covered in ceramic cloth...window trim pulled and glazing proteced with a wet rag....AND I"M OUT OF WELDING GAS!....will have to sit for a few more days.

My suggestion....make it a point to tighten you spindle nuts (under the arms & boots)

That is looking good. I know what you mean on the gas and rods. Seems like i always start something and never have the few supplies i will need. Always forget the last time i work on something and say to myself, I need to have my cylinders refilled or buy more rods before i start the next project.

I'm guessing you used PC-7 epoxy. Its been made in Allentown Pa. for years. And it's good stuff! Am i right?

Wow... from now on I'll defiantly be clearing all the ice and snow off my windshield instead of letting the wipers do it...
