I'm guessing that the last owner disconnected them for a reason. I wouldn't just hook them up again without checking them out.
I also recommend you list your location, before a Mod cancels your posts.

he probably disconnected them at the rear wheels by sniping the break cable. That's what someone did to my white one and yeah, I need to replace the whole thing to get it working again. also when you pull up in the E-brake open the door and listen for retraction of the cable, it will probably sound like a rusty spring. by listening to the sound you might be able to figure out where the cable was "disconnected".

No mod should close anyone's posts for not having a location listed in their profile. We just ask you post a rough location (city, state) so that any nearby members might be able to offer to help.

Do you have a Haynes manual or somewhere where you can buy one. They are very handy to have. You can also get a cd that has just about anything you want to know about a particular car. Mitchel cd's is what im talking about. And there is lots of knowledge on this forum when the book or cd dont help. Just a suggestion.

                Hotfordcat make a good point!
Typically they are disconnected because the mechanism in the drum that engages the e-brake seizes up due to corrosion and lack of use.
These need to be looked at first and freed up if needed, before hooking up the e-brake again.

                Second recommendation is unfounded.
The only time a mod/Admin will cancel a post by a user without a location is if it is a [FS], which does require a location. Even then, I doubt it would immediately be removed before they were asked to provide a location. You don't have to add a location but you will get a lot more assistance if you do.

Do you need instruction as to how to add your location?

Look under the car behind the back wheels. If the cable is still attached there then it might have been disconnected at the other end, under the console between the front seats. The console is not difficult to remove so you can look and see. That's assuming the previous owner "disconnected" the cable and din't just cut it. He or she could have cut it anywhere but you can trace it by feeling along it's length under the car with your hand without jacking up the car.

If you look in the upper left hand corner youll see UserCP. Click on that. It will take you to your personal page. On the left hand side you see alot of different things you can edit. In this case you are looking for Your Profile - Edit your Details. Click on it and in there you can put your Yahoo ,ICQ AIM or any of the other Instant Messengers that you may use.(If you use them) Then at the bottom youll see Additional Information. There you can enter little tidbits of info about yourself, any hobbies you have , your Location, your job. Any and all info is completely voluntary. But the Location is nice simply because there may another member who lives close by and maybe has a part you need or is possibly willing to come give a hand getting yours running. Or maybe is lonely and wants to meet new and exciting individuals.:p
