I would get a bolt extractor that you tap onto the bolt head and remove the bolt by using a socket or a wrench on the remover.I would replace the bolt with another one. They usually make them so the same remover would work on a 13mm or 1/2" bolt head. Irwin makes a good set. Irwin is the company that makes Vice-Grip brand vice grips. I got a set that covers 9mm to 17mm for about $20 at Autozone.

Good luck with that stripped bolt!! I hate extracting bolts with minimal clearance issues.

Someone out there makes a socket with rods and springs in it. It will fit over the stripped head and when turned it tightens around the head and removes the bolt'

Isn't the "gator socket" for broken studs?

the gator grip socket is supposed to fit everything. it has like 50 or so pins with springs above them. theroy is only the pins touching the bolt will slide up the rest will stay im place to apply pressure for turning. i got one for christmas years ago... it was garage (big suprise)
as before mentioned used the conical extractors from irwin they have saved me a hundred times.

ive been in such bad jams ive had to weld a bolt onto a bolt that a customer has stripped..

stud extractorys are completly diffrent btw but do look somewhat similar.

If the head of the bolt is stripped..it's shot...brcause it willnever go back in.

Ge the head of the bolt off with a Dremmel or somehing equal.

Once the head of the bolt is off.. take he cylinder head off. Once the cylinder head is off...apply some heat to the threaded area and oull the remainder of the bolt with a vice grip or the sort.

Becareful...if the bolt breaks with the head in place...it's going to break where the shank of the bolt and the threads start...flush with the head...that's the weakest point of the bolt...get the head of the bolt off now whil something is left or else you will end up having to drilling it out...ouch.

I've done that before on a chevy s-10 head i ended up grinding it down (somewhat unintentionally) and using a stud bolt extractor... i would try one of those, the gator type thing

When i was a diesel tech student at the local college i took advantage of the matco and snapon student discounts and blew 300+ bucks not on regular tools but the "get you out of a pinch" stuff, such as the bolt extractors, tap and die, stud extractors all that goofy stuff that you might use 5 times in your life but when you do and it saves you hours or paying someone else those pieces have paid for themselves.

ya, that gator sounds pretty cool. might not be nescesary... i'm kindof hoping when i get the right socket it will work. pretty sure i can get the bolt back outi already had it out... sheepish grin... i... kindof figured the head had sucked down a bit and ya. tried to put it back in after a visual inspection didn't seem to turn up any stripping (i never thought it mightof been the head). but if that blares BAD IDEA kindof glad i learned about 12 point heads though... might prove handy in the future. i guess i could go to the JR and get a new bolt from another head... ... ..... .. . you got any spare head bolts fastivica?

gators are crap, they hold 0 Lb-ft torque. Irwin bold extractor FTW.

you may also be able to tap on a standard 12pt socket that fits more tightly and extract that way (can't tell for sure w/o pics).
